Today I want to talk to you about Álvarez Quintero Street, where our Tablao is. It gives its name to the tribute of the city to Serafín Álvarez Quintero (Utrera, Sevilla, 1871 – Madrid, 1938) and his brother Joaquín (Utrera, 1873 – Madrid, 1944) who were dramatists and Spanish poets popularly known as the Álvarez Quintero brothers.
Many of his pieces are of a traditional nature, describing the way of being of his land, his Andalusia is that of light and that of color. His pieces are written in Andalusian dialect, with the different nuances of such a wide and rich land. That transmission to paper, which is far from mocking, is what made them unique.
Here you have a small dialogue of his play “El cerrojazo”.
